Dear Experts,

I tend to get hung up on how to prepare packing lists for L/C's without creating a discrepancy. If the L/C calls for a packing list without requesting details, should I include weight & dims or simply have the description as is on the L/C & include the credit number?

Should I prepare a second packing list with details for the receiving port and provide this one directly to the customer for the collection of goods?

Any & all help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Jen

Dear Jen, Packing list helps

Dear Jen,

Packing list helps to trace and check the material contains in the shipment. In order to compliance with LC and to avoid any discrepancy, dont forget to mention if there is any special requirement for Packing list eg. Size, length, weight, tagging or something else. There would no discrepany if you give extra info. in packing list.

For ex. In Stainless steel bright bar buyers calls detail packing list in LC and we provide them detail packing list under subheadings like.. Bundle No., Size, No. of pieces, length, Net wt. and gross wt.

and it helps them to match the material with order and open the packing as required..

packing list

Hi Friend,

a packing list is a list of the packages, stating its content in order to trace the goods you need first, immediately.

so if l/c will cover, e.g.  leather bales, the invoice will be made stating the goods description as er l/c, packing list will state that bale no. 1 contains leather measuring from 4 to 5 sq.ft., bale no 2 from 1 to 2 sqft.....

When the goods will be discharged you will open first the bales containing the goods you need.

If not required by the l/c , characteristic of packing list vary following the goods, all details:weight, dimension must correspond to the data in other documents.

Hoping to have been helpful

Ciao
