Hello Admin

Three requests;

1. Where are all my old private messages? If this feature is to be disabled, do you have an archive of old stuff I can get to, to print from?

2. I rather liked the 'old' step-ladder approach to posts: is there no way this could be preserved?

3. Can I have a bright red Ferrari and a house in the country?

Thanks in advance

phill

empty rows not working

Hi admin,

I am using firefox 8.0 browser and when I post replies / new comments even if I write the text with spaces, I mean press enter after few lines when I change the subject or stuff like this when I prewiev and/or post the respective text it shows as a single string, with no blank lines between subjects as I type it.

Just a long string of words, no blank rows to delimitate.

empty lines I believe fixed

s7r1,

Thanks for catching this. I hope it is better now.  To give a little background: I have disabled links in posts, since we had a terrible spam problem some time back. My hosting provider shut me down because some bot posted illegal offers and I did not catch all and removed them.

Hence, no  links in posts.

Unfortunately, in the chaos of the upgrade, it seems even inconspicuous tags (like line breaks) were disallowed.

Still fixing little things

Phill,

1) I hope your private messages are back. One of the ideas of the new site design was to make it a lot easier to send private messages and create more of a community, meaning, not all relations have to go throug public posting.

2) I hope you mean by "step-ladder" approach the threaded view. I was fighting with myself: eyecandy or intelligent view. After someone who saw the new design praised the eye candy, I went a little against my gut and see myself rightfully scorned. I will see to  get someone to give the threaded view back to us, since I too liked it very much. So the top item on the list is to get a developer.

I can't post new topic

Which button shall I choose when staring posting? I can only find the button of "post reply" but acutally it is not a reply. it's a new creation.

I post serveral times by pressing button "post reply", the screem then comes " no page"

I hope you can reply to posts now.

Sorry for the screw up and thanks for your patience. I had some major catastrophe when migrating and as you can see a couple of things slipped. I will be carefully monitoring the site to hear your complaints, I also have a couple of items on my list that did look much nicer in the testing environment.

rows working and another suggestion

Admin,

The emtpy rows is fixed now and I can post and compose the text much cleaner.

I also love the facility you have added to print threads or save them in .pdf format. it's really useful especially for the guests whom are seeking and learning from our discussions here. I have printed on my own some useful things I have discovered here.

I have one more suggestion. The website is really nice as it is and user-friendly, easy to use for anyone. My suggestion is to keep it simple and I want to suggest something that will help keep the threads cleaner. Here is what I am talking about:

Let's take 3 users. If user A opens a thread and users B and C post replies, when I go to that thread, on order to add my commetns,  I can push the button at the top "POST REPLY" and what I type and submit will be placed directly UNDER what user A opened the thread (first post) no matter I have typed after users B and C, my posting will appear over theirs.  This creates trouble because I maybe reffer to what user C said, and his posting will be under mine....

Another thing would be, if there are 5 comments on a thread, and I press the link reply to the second post for example, my reply won't be the 6th comment but will be immediately under the second post which I replied... this also is not in order from my point of view.

So I say to make something that each and every reply to a post no matter you reply to an user or post new comment to thread without replying to users to be placed UNDER the comments whcih are already posted before you. this will create some kind of order and you can always reffer to what persons before you already said, rather than saying 'user x is right in what he said' and user's x posting to be 5 posts below you, like he posted if after you.

I also recommend removing the script that makes comments smaller and smaller after each reply (leaving blank white space in left side to see that it has been replied - not very useful just making page longer to scroll down).

besides this everything is great as it is... no major changes needed.

Better reference to previous posts

S7r1,

I installed a quote button to better reference previous posts and I took away the "Post Reply" button that creates entries at the top of the forum thread.

I hope that this will increase readability.

Home link

S7r1,

the home link at the top left only leads you to the front page, that is www.letterofcreditforum.com.

The front page always will show the user login (but let me see whether I can work on this).

So nothing to worry.

text outside the border

dear admin

please have a look on this post http://letterofcreditforum.com/content/transfer-risk-exw-incoterm-2011

the text is outside the border of the field where it should be. it's a common problem some webmail apps do the same, it depends on the browser from which you submit the text (at least in my case). Anyway, have a look over it I am sure you can fix it instantly.
